The brand's first watch was released, called "Mudita Moment", a subtle and effective tool to cultivate calm in the chaos of daily life.
The nickname "Mudita" is derived from Pali, a Sino-Indian-Aryan language native to the Indian subcontinent. Although not directly translated into English, the general concept comes from the joy of observing others to find peace and happiness. Mudita Moment is worn on the wrist to remind people of the importance of putting health first and making time to slow down and breathing-to find balance and inspiration through breathing.
From an aesthetic point of view, Mudita Moment is a consciously minimalist timepiece. This is a love song for tranquility and unconstrained function. Each aspect has a purpose, and it has no extraneous details at all. The 38 mm diameter can be worn comfortably on wrists of various sizes. The slender 10.8 mm thickness ensures that it remains low-key and only performs its function when necessary, otherwise it will disappear with the chameleon-like trend. The case is made of sandblasted 316L stainless steel, which further reflects the simple nature of the watch. Without a hint of highlights to distract the eye, the subtle soft tones of the case give a person a kind of indifference almost like a field watch, which is fully in line with Mudita's mission.
Mudita Moment offers three different monochrome dial options to suit any style preference. From black to gray to white, each option has an almost Bauhaus layout, very Spartan. There is no company logo or brand to detract from timekeeping. There is no date window, rehaut, application index or any kind of dimensions. Again, this is why Mudita Moment exists. Think of it as addition and subtraction (not an easy task), and the result is a simple, minimalist timepiece that conveys restraint and softness not commonly seen in the market. Everything on the dial is bright black lines of different lengths corresponding to the hours and minutes. Near the center of the dial is a ring of 15 individual points. Three slender hands extend from the middle of the watch, which contrast with the opposite tone of the dial. The Mudita Moment of the black dial is identical in structure and design, but the white hands and hour markers are chosen to form the same contrast.
Including the above 15 dial points is how Mudita integrates its happiness-centered spirit into Mudita Moment. To help track intentional breathing control, each dot represents a four-second interval. Traditionally, the practice of "box breathing" uses a specific length of time for each step of the process: inhale for four seconds, hold for four seconds, exhale for four seconds, and hold for four seconds. This process can then be repeated until relaxation is reached. The continuous rhythm of this practice can help relieve stress and anxiety, while reminding the wearer to take time to consciously self-check their emotions. The second hand of this timepiece is cleverly designed to further help adjust breathing time. Mudita extends the back and tilts it with a circle that perfectly matches the circular index of the breathing interval, making it easier for you to slow down and decompress when you need it. When the second hand rotates at a standard speed, the balance of the hand can be used as a guide for the number of breathing exercises, allowing the wearer to make corresponding adjustments easily and accurately.
The stainless steel structure of Mudita Moment and the realization of the display bottom cover are fixed by four screws, making it waterproof to 5 atmospheres-more than the pressure required for typical daily activities. In the sapphire window on the back of the watch, you can proudly see the Miyota 9015 automatic movement on display. Over the years, this humble Japanese workhorse has proven its sturdiness and reliability, and it fits perfectly with the spirit of Mudita Moment. When the chain is fully wound, the power reserve will last up to 42 hours. Each model has a large number of quick-change strap options. These shoulder straps use a one-button release lever, which is simple and convenient to replace. Every option is vegetarian and environmentally friendly, whether it is made of natural cork, cactus, or even a material composed of banana stems. This wide range of colors and textures complements the overall nature of Mudita Moment by incorporating nature.
This unisex product is now available on Mudita's website at a pre-order price of US$367. Each watch is made in collaboration with Blonie, a Polish brand with a history dating back to the 1950s. In cooperation with Blondie, every watch is supervised and inspected before it is approved for sale. Mudita Moment is expected to ship in December 2021, just in time for the holidays.
